Medieval 2 Total War gives players a chance to embark on a journey of conquest and strategy. In it, you can command vast armies and engage in grand campaigns. It is a real-time strategy role-playing video game, the fourth installment in Creative Assembly’s Total War series. It is the sequel to Medieval: Total War, released in 2002.
In campaign mode, the player assumes the role of a historical faction and establishes a military and economic civilization to defeat other factions. Controlling the faction’s social, economic, and military structures across vast campaign territories is a fundamental part of the game. Armies, ships, and agents can be moved around the map during the player’s turn. When one army encounters another, the player has the option of engaging in direct combat in battle mode or allowing the outcome to be determined automatically.
The chosen campaign type determines the campaign objective. During a short campaign, the player must control at least fifteen settlements and destroy one or two enemy factions (for example, defeat the Holy Roman Empire’s historical rivals, Milan and Denmark). During the long campaign, the player must control at least 45 regions and one or two important faction-specific cities, such as Jerusalem, Granada, Rome, or Constantinople.
