Multiverse storyline
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time ROM takes a very popular storyline from earlier this decade: the Multiverse. The villain Uka Uka uses his powers to help Neo Cortex and Uka Uka escape from prison in the past. This accidentally tears open a rift in the multiverse. From this incident, the villains start plotting to take over multiple universes, and only Crash and his sister can stop them.
Gameplay mechanics
The original Crash Bandicoot 4 Switch ROM gameplay mechanics are still retained, but some improvements and new features have been added to modernize and make the game more exciting. We get some new abilities and mechanics like ground pounding and double jumping. Additionally, new ancient masks grant powers like summoning platforms and performing a powerful spinning attack for extra height and distance.
The game features multiplayer. It allows up to 4 players to take turns running through a level to see who can reach the checkpoint fastest. This is a nice simulation of old-school couch multiplayer. It’s pretty fun.
Diverse worlds and levels
The Multiverse theme provides a range of different worlds with many different platforming challenges. It expanded from the classic gameplay formula. Boss battles are also more exciting than before. There are also hidden unlockable levels that can be attained by finding VHS tapes, with surprises like black-and-white levels,… showing the unique imagination Naughty Dog can be proud of, Toys for Bob. A frequently appearing element is rail grinding sections with timed jumping and hovering to collect crates and avoid obstacles.
