Desktop.ini Editor Overview
Desktop.ini Editor is a hidden Windows operating system configuration settings file found in every folder and used to store information about the layout of a Windows folder. If the layout or settings are changed, it is automatically created to save those changes.
When you create a new folder in Windows, it is created with the standard folder icon. One of the everyday uses of the Desktop.ini file is to set a custom icon for a folder; however, that’s not the only thing this file is used for.
