The story begins with Bowser defeating Mario and tearing off his traditional hat. Mario then wakes up in the Hat Kingdom, and he and Cappy decide to become best friends and save Peach and Tiara. Super Mario Odyssey gameplay mechanics revolve around Mario and his strange hat. You can throw the hat to attack, jump on it to use a spring cushion, or throw the hat at specific enemies to take control of them, transform Mario into them, and gain their abilities. For example, you can become a Goomba, which can overlap with other types of characters. You can also turn into a frog and jump super high.

Odyssey follows in the footsteps of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine, giving you huge worlds to explore and allowing you to collect many things from them. Each land you visit will have Energy Moons to collect. That’s right, you don’t collect energy stars in this game, but energy Moons.

Instead of being divided into parts like Mario 64, Sunshine, or even the Galaxy series, Super Mario Odyssey NSP 1.4.1 gives you a huge world to explore freely. When you collect enough energy moons, it doesn’t send you back to the hub to pick up the next one and start over. That’s right, you collect the moon, stay there, have fun, and continue playing the game and exploring the world. You will have to collect more than 800 Moons in the game.

Completing the main story in Super Mario Odyssey 1.4.1 NSP probably won’t take too much of your time, but that’s not a bad thing because once you’ve completed the game, you’ve really only just begun. A series of energy moons only unlock after you beat the game, with a few other surprises unlocking later as well.
