Front Mission games generally revolve around a cold war between specific regions, peace treaties that have been signed, independence that has been declared, and the aftermath of wartime situations and actions. In Front Mission 3: Remake Switch ROM, you start with characters named Kazuki Takamura and his friend Ryogo Kusama.
It is a tactical RPG where you will engage in missions in your Wanzers (mechs). You need to defeat all enemies or reach a certain point on the map to complete the mission and proceed to the next. Although you cannot directly target body parts, different weapon types have a higher percentage chance of hitting various areas, like arms or the main core. If you can take out an arm or a leg, there’s a chance the enemy will surrender.
Depending on the body part you destroy, certain things can happen. So, if you destroy the legs, that Wanzer will, of course, be immobilized. If you destroy their arms, they cannot use their weapons. A white flag will appear over your enemy’s head, and in a few turns, they might surrender, or they might decide to continue fighting. When a mech surrenders, you have the opportunity to actually acquire that mech and can then keep it or dismantle it for parts. If it surrenders, then you can take that mech and use the parts or keep it as a mech for yourself or for your team.
Front Mission 3: Remake ROM Download introduces a new mechanic that allows you to deal damage to the pilot as well as the mech itself, forcing them to eject, and then you’ll engage in combat against them. Or you can eject from your own Wanzer and then acquire an unoccupied one from previous situations.
